Online Legal Research Resources
Due to licensing restrictions, some of these resources are available only
to the students, faculty, and staff of the The University of Texas School of Law,
and, in some instances, patrons using the public access computer terminals
in the Tarlton Law Library.
- AccessUN
- AccessUN provides access to current and historical United Nations documents
and publications from 1998 forward. The service indexes official records
of the United Nations, masthead documents, draft resolutions, meeting records,
UN Sales Publications, and the UN Treaty Series. In addition to providing
access to UN documents through its index, the database also includes the
full-text of several thousand UN documents. Access is available through
computers within the Law School. Offsite access requires validation as a
Law School student or faculty/staff member.

- CALI provides more than 100 interactive lessons and tutorials to help
students learn the law. Please contact Brian Quigley (471-6228) for

- CCH
Business and Finance Network
- CCH Business and Finance Network provides full text of primary authority
and current awareness materials in the following areas: securities, global
securities, banking, capital changes, trade regulation, government contracts,
telecommunications, information technology, federal energy guidelines, transportation
law, and products liability and safety. Access is available in the computer
lab or at a Law School faculty/staff computer. Offsite access requires
validation as a Law School student or faculty/staff member.

Tax Research Network
- The CCH Tax Research Network includes complete coverage of federal and
state primary authority, as well as current awareness materials, covering
federal and state income and estate tax. Access is available in the computer
lab or at a Law School faculty/staff computer. Offsite access requires

- Congressional
Universe
- Congressional Universe includes legislation and public policy information,
statistical information including projections and analyses, legislative
history, federal regulations, and voting and financial records for individual
members, as well as members of various congressional committees. Offsite

- Global Jurist

- Berkeley Electronic Press publishes two groups of electronic journals.
The Global Jurist

- A collection of legal periodicals, reproducing the original image of each
article. The collection includes over 100 legal periodicals and begins with
the first issue of each journal. Access is available in the computer

- IndexMaster
- IndexMaster provides indexes and table of contents to secondary source
legal material. Access is available in the computer lab or at a Law School
faculty/staff computer. Offsite access requires validation as a Law School

to Legal Periodicals (Wilson)
- The ILP abstracts articles from 891 legal periodicals (Aug. 1981-present).
It also indexes English-language books published in 1993 or later. Access
is available in the computer lab or at a Law School faculty/staff computer.

- Legal Scholarship Network
- LSN consists of a series of electronic journals of abstracts--of working
papers as well as articles accepted for publication--in various areas of
law. Searchable, free online archives are available. If you would like to

- A personal ID is required.
- Loislaw
- Loislaw is a comprehensive legal database of primary and secondary authority.

Bender Online
- Matthew Bender publishes a wide variety of primarily practitioner-oriented
treatises and firm books. This resource is available from any computer located
within the Law School.
- National Bureau of Economic
Research
- NBER Working Papers date are available from November 1994. Thus, Working
Papers numbered 4935 and higher are available online.
- Tax Analysts

- United
Nations Treaty Collection
- This treaty collection provides access to the current status of the Multilateral
Treaties deposited with the Secretary-General, the United Nations Treaty
Series (full text of UN treaties), and recently deposited Multilateral Treaties.
Access is available in the computer lab or at a Law School faculty/staff
computer. Offsite access requires validation as a Law School student or
faculty/staff member.
- VersusLaw
- VersusLaw is an online resource providing access to primary legal authority.
Registration is free for members of the Law School community. An email address
ending in .edu is required for registration.
Free UT student email accounts
are available from the University.
