Barbara Bridges has been the Documents Librarian at Tarlton since 1973. Prior to this, she worked as Criminal Justice Reference Librarian at Tarlton, as a documents librarian in the UT General Libraries, and as a reference librarian at the UT Undergraduate Library. Before attending library school, she was employed part-time in the Manuscripts Division at Tulane University while attending school there. Barbara's M.L.S. is from The University of Texas at Austin. As an undergraduate at Sophie Newcomb College (Tulane University), she majored in music history and spent two more years at Tulane working on a graduate degree in musicology. Barbara also spent one year in the post-M.L.S. 6th Year Certificate Program at The University of Texas Graduate School of Library Science.
Melissa Bernstein has an undergraduate degree from Wellesley in economics (Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude), her law degree from Harvard, and a master's degree from Pratt. Melissa is a member of both the New Jersey and New York Bar, and practiced corporate law in both states. Melissa also interned at the law library at New York University.
Casey Duncan has an undergraduate degree is from Hillsdale College (magna cum laude), a law degree (cum laude, Dean's List) from the University of Minnesota (where he was executive editor of the Minnesota Journal of Global Trade), and a master's from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Casey researched constitutional law issues as a research assistant to Professor Michael Paulson at the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the Nebraska Bar.
Cathy Mantor-Ramirez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Portuguese from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Master of Library Science degree from Syracuse University. She has been at Tarlton since 1994. For several years, prior to becoming a librarian, Ms. Mantor-Ramirez advised international students, researchers, and faculty at Syracuse University.
Pierrette Moreno has been the acquisitions librarian since 1992. A graduate of The University of Texas, she has worked at Tarlton since 1975 both in public services and technical services. Ms. Moreno has worked in almost every department of the Library, and has supervised serials, processing, and circulation functions. She has been a member of American Association of Law Libraries, Southwestern Association of Law Libraries, and State Agency Libraries of Texas, and is currently a member of the Austin Law Librarians.
Jane O'Connell received her Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry and film history and J.D. from the University of Kansas. She received her Master of Science in Information Science from the University of Texas. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. O'Connell joined the Center in 2004 as the head of student services, and is currently the interim coordinator of public services. She teaches Advanced Legal Research – Texas, as well as co-teaching Brief Writing and Oral Advocacy with Advanced Legal Research and Legal Information Resources. Ms. O'Connell is an active member of the American Association of Law Libraries, serving on its citation formats committee.
Jonathan Pratter has been the Foreign and International Law Librarian at Tarlton since 1986. He holds his M.S.L.I.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before becoming a law librarian he was a public defender. His law degree is from the University of Nebraska—Lincoln and his B.A. (French Language and Literature) is from Indiana University—Bloomington. Between university and law school he worked as a well-logger, surveyor, and driller’s helper for a large coal company.
Barbara Washecka earned her Bachelor of Arts in international relations at Mary Washington College, which was then part of the University of Virginia, and her Master of Arts in Library Science at the University of Denver in 1966. She has been at Tarlton for nearly 20 years, serving as head of cataloging for 16 years. Ms. Washecka previously worked in libraries at Colorado State University, the Attorney General’s office for the Trust Territory of the Northern Marianas, and Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida.
